Antique MapsWelcome to our Antique Maps web site. I hope you find the way around it easy - you can either look through them by country, or search for a more specific result. We stock maps by cartographers such as John Speed, Jansson, Blome, Bleau, Saxton and others. More maps will appear on the site as and when we find them and as and when we sort through our collection that has accumulated over the years! If you have any questions or queries about any map, please contact us and we will be happy to explain or give more details. Most of these maps are available to see at our shop in Glastonbury and you are welcome to visit. We also offer a request service if there is something that you are searching for and if we find the item you have first refusal (being antique, we do not guarantee to find it). We are also always interested in buying maps too - please contact us.
A selection from our extensive collection DatesAll our maps are genuine antique maps - no reproductions! Dates that are stated with the prefix 'circa' mean 'around' and are as close as we can reasonably say (sometimes, this may mean that they may actually be earlier). When dated specifically, then that is the actual published date of that actual map. Sizes'Paper size' means the whole paper size and 'Plate size' means the size of the plate used to print the map; i.e. to the embossed edge - usually very tight to the map edge anyway. All sizes are approximate within reason. ConditionA very difficult thing to quantify when dealing with something that may be nearly 400 years old, but I try to be as accurate as possible! |
